Easter Butterflies

You wouldn't think Easter was only a month away if you looked outside my front window but the calendar says so, so it must be. I'm am anxious for Spring to arrive now and so are the kids. One of my sons has been asking to go camping already for the last few weeks so I suspect they're feeling the same!

This card was really a very simply card to make and it once again uses my favourite butterflies! The butterflies are all attached with mini glue dots which lets me lift the wings off the page. The rhinestones are attached with crystal effects.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Very Vanilla, Orchid Opulence, Blush Blossom, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, DSP-Cottage Wall

Of the Earth Birthday wishes

Hi everyone! I didn't get any stamping in yesterday so I was happy to sit down and make a card this morning. There are just never enough hours in a day, even if I tend to go to bed really late, lol.

Today's card is made with the Of the Earth stamp set. It's a Level 1 hostess set, one that I hesitated to get but after seeing so many cute cards with this particular flower, I knew I would enjoy it!

Stamps: Of the Earth, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Very Vanilla, DSP- "Contraband, lol"
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Clear Rhinestones, Basic Black satin ribbon

Hostess Gifts

We had our first Stampin' Up! club workshop last night and had a ton of fun. Who doesn't like to get out of the house and stamp with a group of friends! I can tell it's going to be a great 8 months getting to know everyone. One of the things I love to do for my hosts is to give them this cute basket as a special thank you for being the host that month. Plus it gives me an excuse to alter stuff, lol. I do still have one spot left so if you're in the Steinbach area and would like to join us, or would like more info, give me a shout at btdyck@gmail.com, you'll have a great time and build your stamping stash!

I used mostly retired papers for this particular gift, I still wish this stuff was current. LOVE that Baja Breeze paper!!

I won't list the supplies for this as most of it is retired. I will be making a few cards today so check back tonight or tomorrow for another post!

Have a great day!

Zindorf wannabe

This was my first time attempting to make a Zindorf card, and wow! This was a lot of fun. I created the entire scene with my brayer and masking. The only stamp I used was the tree line from Lovely as a Tree. It's a lot easier than it looks and I'll definitely be trying one again!

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Whisper White,
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Bordering Blue, Basic Grey, Basic Black
Other: Antique Brads

Sunsets...

What is it about a sunset that is so soothing to look at and makes you feel at peace with the world. It doesn't matter whether you're on a beach somewhere or out in the prairies, sunsets are beautiful!

I bought this stamp set knowing that this is what I wanted to do with it. It's such a beautiful set and you can either do warm sunsets like this one or you could create a summer sky scene as well.

If you're interested in learning more about brayering and creating your own scenes like this one, why not come to my next class (March 8) where I'll be focusing on the brayer. Cost of the class is $15 but if you spend $30 in Stampin' Up! merchandise, your class fee is only $5, spend $65 and your class is free plus right now with Sale-a-bration going on, for every $65 you spend you receive a FREE stamp set out of the Sale-a-bration catalogue!

Stamps: Inspired by Nature
Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
Ink: So Saffron, Apricot Appeal, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black

Eastern Influences, Part II

As promised, I'm back to post another card using the Eastern Influences set. This card doesn't have an Eastern feel to it all all but that's why I love this set, so many different ways you could use it.

I saw this card a while ago and fell in love with the colour combination and the layout. Although I think I should have gone with a slightly deeper blue. The dsp matches with a retired in colour, Baja Breeze, but I found that it really works well with a number of blues. I did not stamp a sentiment on the front of the card, I'll do that once I decide what I need it for.

I stamped the image in basic black and used my ink pads and blender pens to colour the image. I'm still trying to figure out whether I prefer water colouring with aqua painters or blender pens. Well I guess it wouldn't really be water colouring if I use a blender pen but I can get almost the same results. I added a little dazzling diamonds to the flower to give it a little extra dazzle! And used crystal effects for the faux brads.

Stamps: Eastern Influences
Paper: Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue, Water colour pp, DSP-Retired
Ink: Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Other: Bashful Blue Ribbon, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds

I Love Holidays Mondays!

I love the relaxed feeling you get from having a holiday Monday, my husband and kids spent most of the morning building a snow fort that could rival the Pentagon and that gave me the perfect time to get a few cards made. And then for lunch we had homemade waffles and cream, yes we had that for lunch...because we can, lol.

Today's card is made with a set that I had overlooked many times while browsing our catalogue, Eastern Influences. Such a pretty set, wish I had gotten it sooner. I'm not sure why but the brayered piece looks almost more yellow than green but I promise in real life it's the same green as the background, only a little lighter.

I first brayered on So Saffron lightly, and then topped it off with Kiwi Kiss (retired). I have struggled for many years trying to get a softer look with a brayer and I think I finally have it figured out. Wohoo!

You can sort of see the inside, but I used the same colours to brayer the inside piece only the heavier green is at the bottom. I was going to take a picture of the inside but totally forgot.

Stamps: Eastern Influences
Paper: Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black
Ink: So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Rose Red, Always Artichoke
Other: Satin Ribbon, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Thanks for stopping by, check back tomorrow for another card using this set!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Now before anyone wonders why I'm on the computer on this day of love I say that my DH and I had our date yesterday instead of today. We have come to loath going out on the actual day. You have to make your reservations, than they rush you so they can serve the next happy couple. You can barely shove your appetizer in before they bring you your dinner, and then you get the bill while you're still chewing, lol. You go for a movie and it's so crowded, people everywhere! So we decided that we would start celebrating Valentine's Day the day before or the weekend closest to the day, way less frustrations, plus now we take the kids out for a simpler dinner on Valentine's Day. A win win if you ask me.

But anyway, enough ramblings... I made these cute little pizza boxes for our school receptionist and our kids EA. I love the staff at the school and take any opportunity I can to show them our appreciation. Inside I put some pink tissue paper and a handful of Hershey kisses, mmmm chocolate.

Stamps: I {heart} Hearts
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pretty in Pink, DSP-Sending Love
Ink: Real Red, Pretty in Pink

Busy Week

You ever have one of those weeks where you're really busy but it feels like you've got nothing to show for it? That's me this week. And to top it off, I got my Stampin' Up! order today with new stamps that are just waiting to be inked up, but I had to finish the kid's Valentine's treats today so be prepared for some new stuff in the next little while!

This is a card that I saw on one of my many favorite blogs, love how simple it is, but simple doesn't mean plain by any means. I used my white gel pen for the stitching and popped all the hearts on dimensionals, very pretty IRL.

Stamps: I {heart} Hearts
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Ink: Real Red, Pretty in Pink
Other: White gel pen, Small Rhinestones

Easel Card

I hope everyone had a great weekend, we had a snowy one. We had a winter storm come through Saturday evening and it continued to snow all day Sunday. So it was nice just to stay home and enjoy some quiet time.

This card is one of the 3 projects we made at my last stamp class, it's called an easel card. Very easy to make once you see how it's done! And once again I was able to use my favorite die, the Butterfly emobosslits die called Beautiful Wings and the new border punch!

Stamps: Of the Earth
Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, DSP-Sweet pea (LOVE that paper!)
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Black Grosgrain Ribbon

I Love Water Colouring...

I'm sure there are others out there that love water colouring as much as I do. You start with a plain image and you can bring it to life with whatever colours you choose, I especially love the shading you can achieve with water colouring, something I'm still trying to perfect. But I'm having fun while I'm doing it!

And as you can tell, once again it's another Birthday card! I think I better start thinking about Easter cards or Mother's Day...

This is a pretty basic card, I did end up adhering the pink cs using dimensionals. After add all those rhinestone brads I found that it was just a little too bulky in that spot so I went with it and popped it off the page.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Vintage Labels (SAB set)
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Water Colour pp, Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Basic Black

Birthday Overload!

Some of you might have noticed that all my cards are Birthday cards these days. My goal this year is to send birthday cards to friends and family and so that means I actually have to make them, lol. But I'm already late for one so I guess you could say I'm off to a great start.

This card happens to be for my husband's nephew who turns 6 in a few weeks. I love the Beary Best Friends set for kids birthday cards, they're so fun! I used my gel pen for the faux stitching, I love that I don't have to lug out my sewing machine for this. I also stamped a few extra balloons on water colour paper and cut them out. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the strings where I wanted them and glued the extra balloons in place. And I added crystal effects to all three of the balloons to give them that extra umph.

Stamps: Beary Best Friends, Vintage Labels (SAB set)
Paper: Taken With Teal, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Water Colour pp, SAB paper pack
Ink: Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Ruby Red, Crushed Curry, Taken With Teal, Night of Navy,Close to Cocoa
Other: White Gel Pen, Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Black Brads, Crystal Effects

Have a great weekend!

When Hate Turns to Love

I have a confession to make, I have hate Crushed Curry since it came out! I had no use for it, until I saw this gorgeous card by Andrea Walford and just had to CASE it, it has such a striking colour combonation. This one was a lot of fun to make and I'll definitely try to give my least favorite colours another chance!

Crazy for Pink

I'm sure I'm not the only scrapper that goes through colour phases, right now I'm all about the pink. Perhaps it's because we did some Valentine's projects at my last class, or perhaps I'm just in a pink mood, lol. A friend came over today and we spent the morning making cards, my kind of morning! I think I'll continue that for the afternoon and see how many I can produce, have I ever mentioned that I am a slooooooow card maker. I over analyze every part of the card, some would there are meds for that, lol.

I saw this card made by the wonderfully talented Teneale Williams and thought it was so pretty. This is pretty much an exact case, same colours and same stamp set used. Very simple but pretty. The only thing I might yet is a little dazzling diamonds to the centers of the flowers.

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Upsy Daisy
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red
